Former Federal Communications Commission chairman Dennis Patrick has been named president of National Geographic Ventures.
Patrick -- most recently president and CEO of Patrick Communications Inc. and Doeg Hill Ventures LLC -- was with the FCC from 1983 through 1989.
Patrick joins the company Jan. 6, succeeding Richard Allen, who was named president and CEO of Vulcan Sports Media.
