Michael Rooney has been named senior vice president of advertising sales
and marketing for ESPN Branded Media, officials said Monday.
In his new role, Rooney will be responsible for the ad-
and sponsorship-sales efforts of ESPN-The Magazine, ESPN.com (msn.espn.go.com ) and ESPN
Outdoors. He will also coordinate efforts between ESPN ABC Sports sales and the
sales teams at ESPN Radio and ESPN International.
Based in New York, Rooney will report to Ed Erhardt, president of ABC Sports
customer marketing and sales.
Most recently, Rooney was senior VP and general manager of ESPN Outdoors,
overseeing efforts for the outdoor genre, primarily the ESPN Great Outdoor
Games, ESPN2’s outdoor programming and BASS.
He joined ESPN in 1997 as the first publisher of ESPN-The
Weekly digest of streaming and OTT industry news
