Electroline Debuts Outdoor Modem
By Matt Stump
published Electroline Equipment Inc. unveiled its first "DRM-series" family Data Over Cable Service Interface Specification modem, designed for outdoor use under the most extreme weather conditions.
"Typical consumer-grade cable modems are not designed to operate at extreme temperatures common in the outside plant of an HFC [hybrid fiber-coaxial] network," said Jay Staiger, marketing director at Electroline, in a prepared statement.
Staiger said the new modem passes surge tests specified by the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers.
