Dish Promotes Orban to EVP and CFO

Paul W. Orban has been promoted to executive vice president and chief financial officer at Dish Network.

The 23-year veteran had served as senior vice president, chief accounting officer, principal financial officer and controller. Englewood, Colo.-based Dish operates both a satellite-TV platform and virtual multichannel video programming distributor Sling TV.

“Paul has been with us virtually every step of the way, having joined Dish weeks before we signed our first customer," Dish president and CEO Erik Carlson, to whom Orban reports, said in a statement. “His encyclopedic knowledge of every aspect of our business, its finances and its strategic vision has made him an indispensable counselor to me and an outstanding leader to our business.”

Orban was hired by Dish in 1996 as a member of its financial reporting team; he was later promoted to director of accounting and VP of accounting. He was named senior VP and corporate controller in 2006 and also served in the same role at corporate sibling EchoStar Corp. from 2008 to 2012.

Prior to Dish, the University of Colorado graduate was an auditor with Arthur Andersen.
