Discovery Swims with the Sharks

Discovery Channel has finally taken the made-for-cable movie plunge.

Discovery revealed Wednesday afternoon that production has wrapped on its
first original TV flick, which will appear on the network early next year.

The effort is 12 Days of Terror, depicting a series of shark attacks
in 1916, which reportedly inspired author Peter Benchley to write
Jaws.

The film was shot in Cape Town, South Africa, by director Jack Sholder
(The Hidden), with Jeffrey Reiner, J.T. Allen and Tommy Lee Wallace
co-authoring the script. John Ryhs-Davies (Shogun, The Lord of the
Rings
, Sliders) stars, along with Colin Egglesfield and Jenna
Harrison.

Sister Discovery Communications Inc. channel Animal Planet has produced
made-for films on a regular basis during the past three years, including a
remake of Gentle Ben and, most recently, Cybermutt from Man
from Snowy River
director George Miller.
