Discovery Communications Inc. said Thursday that its new network-origination center for its 14 domestic cable networks will be located in Sterling, Va.
The programmer said The Discovery Television Center - Virginia will begin operations in the fall of 2005.
The facility -- where DCI expects about 100 people to work -- will feature automated systems that store programming for its multiple networks in a tapeless server-based environment, which will allow the programmer to store its content for distribution across multiple platforms.
