Discovery Health Channel has inked a licensing deal with Hungry Minds Inc.
(previously IDG Books Worldwide) for a miniseries centered on best-selling book
Pregnancy for Dummies, the companies announced.
The network will team up with Randall Productions on Pregnancy for
Dummies, a four-part miniseries that is scheduled to bow in spring 2002.
The programming will integrate the 'For Dummies' look and feel, incorporating
the use of such icons as 'Tip' and 'Don't Worry,' as well as the property's
trademark blackboard lettering and humor.
Preproduction on the project begins this month.
'We're delighted that Hungry Minds chose Discovery Health as its first
television partner,' Discovery Health executive vice president and general
manager Kathy Quattrone said. 'Our mutual goal of satisfying curiosities and
addressing concerns about the often-intimidating world of health and medicine
reinforces the strength of this new partnership.'
