Discovery Finds Nokia for Mobile Content

Consumers who buy Nokia Corp. wireless phones will soon discover a raft of content from Discovery Communications Inc. preloaded on the devices.

Under a deal announced Thursday, Nokia will preload a lineup of Discovery content on its new multimedia-capable handsets. In the first phase, this will consist of the “Best of Discovery” montage clip on Nokia “N92” handsets and the Nokia “770” Internet-enabled tablet device.

“Cooperating with Nokia, which is widely recognized as one of the most innovative companies in the world, allows Discovery to bring its high-quality content to consumers wherever they are, whenever they want it,” said Donald A. Baer, Discovery’s senior executive vice president for strategy and development.

It also fits with Discovery’s strategy to field its content widely on mobile multimedia-capable devices. The science and education programmer already supplies content to 21 carriers in 11 countries.
