Discovery en Español Revs Up Its Monday-Night Lineup

If you’re a classic-car fanatic, Discovery en Español hopes you’ll tune in to its new, auto-intensive Monday-night programming block.

As of Feb. 10, the Spanish-language pay TV network is offering viewers three hours of programs focused on automobiles and the art and labor behind their restoration.

At 8 p.m., Discovery en Español turns its cameras on the McClure family with Spanish-dubbed episodes of Desert Car Kings, taking the title Reyes de autos clásicos. The mission of each episode: to repair a classic American car and restore it to its former glory.

A dubbed-to-Spanish version of Fast N’ Loud, retitled El Duo Mecánico, follows at 9 p.m. El Duo focuses on the team of Richard Rawlings and Aaron Kaufman, two car fanatics who transform classic automobiles into works of art at Dallas’ renowned Gas Monkey Garage.

An hour later, the second season of Overhaulin’ rounds out what the network is now billing as its “Lunes de motores” — or Motor Mondays. Overhaulin’ features car designer Chip Foose and Mexican model Arianny Celeste, who each week select an individual and completely restore their old car into a refurbished gem.

" ‘Lunes de motores’ is a direct response to our audience's passion for all things automotive,” Bilai Joa Silar, vice president of content at Discovery en Español, said. “Throughout the night, we not only see the transformation of the automobile, but we also get to appreciate people's creativity and ingenuity, and the strong visceral connection that exists between man and machine.”

The automotive-themed block repeats at 11 p.m. for West Coast viewers.
