DirecTV Latin America Has a Plan
By MCN Staff published
DirecTV Latin America LLC filed its reorganization plan Thursday.
The Latin American direct-broadcast satellite provider, which filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in March, filed its plan with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Wilmington, Del.
The filing applied only to the company’s U.S. entity, and it did not include any of the operating companies in Latin America and the Caribbean, which have continued regular operations.
The plan reflects an agreement reached between DirecTV Latin America, majority owner Hughes Electronics Corp. and the official committee of unsecured creditors.
The company is aiming to emerge from Chapter 11 early next year.
