Dingell Aide Joins Verizon’s D.C. Office

Gregg Rothschild, a senior aide to Rep. John Dingell (D-Mich.), is joining Verizon Communications in the company’s Washington, D.C., office as the Baby Bell gears up for a congressional overhaul of the Telecommunications Act of 1996.

Rothschild, who starts in his new position Jan. 25, has been named Verizon’s vice president, federal relations and policy counsel, according to informed sources. For the past two years, he was minority counsel for the House Energy and Commerce Committee.

Prior to joining Dingell’s staff, Rothschild was a top telecommunications-policy adviser to Sen. John Kerry (D-Mass.). Had Kerry won the presidential election, Rothschild, 38, was considered a top candidate for Federal Communications Commission chairman.
