Democrats, Republicans Meet in the WWE Ring

The Republican National Committee and the Democratic National Committee will hold voter-registration activities at World Wrestling Entertainment Inc. live events in 39 states between now and the end of September, WWE announced Monday.

The initiative is part of WWE's “Smackdown Your Vote!” effort to increase the number of 18- to 30-year-olds who participate in the 2004 presidential election.

It kicks off Monday night at the San Diego Sports Arena, where the RNC will bring its 18-wheel voter-registration rig, "Reggie," to a 2 p.m. news conference. RNC chairman Ed Gillespie will join WWE superstars Ric Flair, Shawn Michaels, Shelton Benjamin, Randy Orton, The Hurricane and women's champion Victoria.

The DNC will hold a similar event and rally at a future WWE event.
