CSG Calls AT&T Suit Meritless
By MONICA HOGAN published
Shares of CSG Systems International Inc. traded heavily Thursday, the same
day one of its leading billing and customer-care clients, AT&T Broadband,
filed suit against the vendor in Arapahoe County, Colo.
According to a CSG press release, AT&T Broadband's suit seeks to force
CSG to provide the MSO with certain data that AT&T could then pass on to an
alternate billing vendor. CSG called the suit meritless.
Earlier this month, CSG stock dropped on the news that AT&T Broadband
would seek arbitration to free itself from its contractual obligations to
CSG.
'CSG is in full compliance with its obligations under its contract with
AT&T,' CSG senior vice president of corporate development and general
counsel Joe Ruble said in a press release Friday, 'and this lawsuit is merely
AT&T's latest attempt to bully CSG into renegotiating the contract.'
CSG's share price remained flat in heavy trading Thursday, remaining close to
a 52-week low. The stock market was closed to trading on Good
Friday.
