CPJ Calls on Greece To Investigate Bombing of Reporter's Car

The Committee to Protect Journalists has called on Greek authorities to investigate the bombing of a CNN reporter--she was not in it at the time.

CPJ cites local reports that a bomb exploded underneath the car of Mina Karmatrou Tuesday morning (May 14) outside her home, destroying the car. There were reportedly no injuries in the early morning blast.

"We call on the Greek authorities to conduct a swift and thorough investigation into the car bomb attack on reporter Mina Karamitrou," said Gulnoza, CPJ's Europe and Central Asia program coordinator. "Journalists' safety and well-being must be ensured, and protective measures are often critical for those who cover crime."

Karamitrou told "Good Morning Greece" she believes the attack was connected to her coveraage of a man imprisoned for murder and affiliated the November 17 anarchist group.
