Cox Communications is launching a
digital video recorder service in northern Virginia, two months after it
launched a market trial in Gainesville, Fla.
The MSO is deploying the Scientific-Atlanta Explorer 8000 DVR to digital
cable subscribers for a $9.99 monthly fee plus a $9.99 monthly lease cost.
The DVR also functions as a digital set-top box, and the gateway to Cox's
digital services.
The Explorer 8000 Cox is deploying can store up to 50 hours of
content.
