Conexant Debuts PVR Chip
By Matt Stump
Conexant Systems Inc. said it can knock 15 percent of the cost of
personal-video-recorder chips with a new single-chip dual-stream demodulator
chip set.
The vendor said the 'CX24130' dual-chip device can handle two incoming video
streams, allowing consumers to watch one TV show and record another.
The chip can be integrated into set-tops, satellite receivers, residential
gateways and even PCs.
The device replaces two 100-pin demodulators with one 80-pin integrated
circuit, which cuts space by 35 percent and costs by 15 percent, Conexant
said.
