Cable and telecommunications infrastructure vendor CommScope, which is in the midst of a $3.9 billion deal to go private, sold its wireless test and measurement product line to Anite, a provider of solutions to the international wireless industry based in Finland.
Financial details of the deal, which closed Jan. 7, were not disclosed.
Under terms of the sale, Anite acquired CommScope's Invex wireless test and measurement product portfolio, existing customer commitments. Approximately 20 CommScope employees who directly work for the Invex product line will join Anite, while the remainder of those employees who previously supported the Invex product line will remain with CommScope's Andrew Solutions division.
"Invex products are in use around the world by many wireless operators," Andrew Network Solutions vice president and general manager John Baker said in a statement. "In a consolidating test and measurement industry, we are confident that combining Invex with the strong Anite testing solutions will provide even greater options and stronger support for our customers in the future."
In October 2010 CommScope reached a deal with private-equity firm Carlyle Group to go private in a deal valued at $3.9 billion. On Dec. 30, CommScope's stockholders voted to approve the deal, which is expected to close in the first quarter of 2011 pending regulatory approvals and other closing conditions.
Hickory, N.C.-based CommScope sells coaxial cable, optical solutions and related products to cable operators, as well as wireless equipment and cabinets for DSL and fiber-to-the-node networks.
