CommScope Retools Sales and Marketing

CommScope Inc., a manufacturer of hybrid-fiber coax equipment, realigned
its sales and marketing group, elevating Gene W. Swithenbank executive vice
president of global broadband sales and marketing.

Previously, Swithenbank, a 30-year CommScope veteran,
was executive vice president of domestic CATV sales and marketing.

Swithenbank was promoted to help CommScope "better understand the global
opportunities ahead," the company said.

CommScope in April reported first quarter sales of $217 million, up 7 percent
from the year-ago quarter, and realized strong international growth. While
domestic sales were a flat $155.7 million year-over-year, international bookings
grew 23 percent to $61.7 million during the same period.

Swithenbank now heads a team comprised of senior vice
president of domestic broadband sales Jim Hughes, senior vice president of international
broadband sales Mike Jones and vice president of global broadband marketing Brian
Riley.

CommScope, like other technology vendors, has not been immune to soft market
conditions. In February, the company said the slowdown prompted it to initiate
eight-day "rolling layoffs" - or unpaid time off-that affected between five to
20 percent of the company's global staff of 3,200.
