Comedy Announces ‘Commies’ Winners

Comedy Central Monday announced the winners of its "The Commies" awards.

The Commies -- which acknowledge and honor the year’s best in comedic film, television, Internet, music, news and live performances -- were awarded Sunday night, and a two-hour special will air on the network Sunday, Dec. 7 at 9 p.m. (EST/PST).

Among the winners:

• "Comedy Idol" Award: Rodney Dangerfield.

• Funniest Person of the Year: Jon Stewart (host of Comedy’s The Daily Show with Jon Stewart).

• Funniest Movie: Old School.

• Funniest TV Series: Curb Your Enthusiasm.

• Funniest Movie Actor: Will Ferrell (Old School).

• Funniest Movie Actress: Alyson Hannigan (American Wedding).

• Funniest TV Actor: Andy Richter (Andy Richter Controls the Universe).

• Funniest TV Actress: Wanda Sykes (Wanda at Large).

• Funniest Male Character: Eugene Levy (Bringing Down the House/American Wedding).

• Funniest Female Character: Juliette Lewis (Old School).

• Funniest Animated TV Series: South Park.

• Funniest Talk/Variety Show: The Daily Show with Jon Stewart.

• Funniest New TV Series: Chappelle's Show.

• Funniest TV Special: Comedy Central Roast of Denis Leary.

• Funniest TV Wife: Jane Kaczmarek (Malcom in the Middle).

• Funniest Stand-Up Comedian of the Year: Chris Rock.

• Funniest Smart Ass: Triumph the Insult Comic Dog.

• Funniest Nude Scene: Will Ferrell (Old School).
