Comcast Taps Primedia Specialty Content
By Matt Stump published
Comcast Corp. increased its free on-demand content package in Philadelphia, contracting to carry 40 hours of special-interest programming from Primedia Inc.'s consumer-magazine group.
Initial programming will come from Motor Trend, Specialty Cars, Parenting Basics, On the Job, TeenNews, In-Fisherman, Adventure Sports and Arts & Crafts. Programming content from the "Primedia Video Magazine Rack" is associated with print magazines of the same name.
The move appears to put Primedia in competition with Mag Rack's specialty-magazine video-on-demand content.
Primedia is partnering with Ascent Media Group Inc., a Liberty Media Corp. subsidiary, to provide encoding and metadata-management services.
