Comcast South Florida Launches Argentina’s TyC

Argentinan soccer and sports fans have been taking to Comcast’s online forums for months demanding carriage of TyC, a 24-hour sports channel focused on fare from the South American nation.

On March 4, their pleas were answered, as Comcast agreed to carry the network both as a linear channel and on-demand.

TyC, which was added to the South Florida system’s Xfinity Latino package, televises most of South America’s soccer matches, including games from the popular Argentine Primera División.

“TyC Sports International allows Comcast to offer the most complete package for the sports fan, especially for those who love soccer from Argentina and all Latin America,” Hernán Chiofalo, international business manager for TyC, said in a statement. “We look forward to working together with Comcast to expand our customer base in a region with a strong Hispanic cultural presence such as South Florida.”

U.S.-based Argentines posting to Comcast’s online forum had been starving to see the first-division Argentine soccer league matches carried by TyC.

TyC Sports offers some of the most popular soccer events in Latin America, including the first division of the Argentine soccer league, something U.S.-based  Argentines were starving for. “I really want to have TyC Sports,” one user recently posted on the forums. “Please Comcast and Xfinity make your custumers happy.”

In addition to Argentine soccer, TyC televisies matches from several Latin American soccer league and produces five original shows —  Código F, Gol Uruguayo, Fútbol Guaraní and Goles de Chile y Colombia — as well as sports news, basketball, boxing and several South American auto races.
