Following initial integration with tablets, smartphones and Web browsers, Comcast’s Xfinity Home service has forged a connection to the TV screen thanks to the formal launch of an app for the MSO’s IP-capable X1 platform.
The new X1 app for Xfinity Home lets customers manage and monitor their home systems, including video cameras, lights and thermostats, Dan Herscovici, VP, product management, news business for Xfinity Home, explained in this blog post.
Comcast hasn’t announced how many customers have signed up for Xfinity Home, but the MSO did note last month that it has deployed more than 5 million X1 boxes.
Xfinity Home expands on a suite of native apps developed for X1, complementing the operator’s integration of sports and news widgets, and support for third-party Internet apps such as Pandora, Facebook, Instagram and Flickr.
