Comcast Business Cuts Supercuts Deal

Comcast Business said it has landed a deal to supply Internet, WiFi and voice and TV services across 33 Supercuts franchise locations in southeastern Pennsylvania and southern New Jersey.

The deal, which supports guest amenities such as WiFi access and HDTV, also includes the connection of on-site cameras and the uploading of real-time data to a mobile app that lets Supercuts customers make appointments and pick a preferred stylist, and to check approximate wait times.

Comcast said the camera setup will give district managers a way to keep adjust staffing levels or plan new locations based on sustained demand. On the data side, Supercuts locations are being outfitted with connections with 50 Mbps download speeds and 10 Mbps upload speeds. The WiFi feature supports two separate SSIDs – one for employees and an Xfinity WiFi signal for guests.

The Comcast Business unit generated revenues of $917 million in the first quarter of 2014, establishing an annual run rate of $3.66 billion.
