CNN Plans More Layoffs

Cable News Network plans to lay off about 20 staffers from its CNN
Interactive unit by the end of the week, according to a company source.

The cuts follow the layoffs of 400 CNN staffers in January. About one-third
of the staffers cut in the last round of layoffs also came from the interactive
unit.

A CNN spokesperson wouldn't comment on the prospect of additional layoffs,
but noted, 'CNN is working to further integrate its TV and Web operations.'

Executive vice president and general manager Sid Bedingfield declined to
comment Monday when asked if there would be additional layoffs at the network.
'That's not for this discussion,' he said.
