Cisco Shuts Down Scientific Atlanta's Main Web Site

Cisco Systems took another step in the long, slow integration of Scientific Atlanta, announcing Thursday that it has migrated "the majority of the content" from the former SA site into the corporate Web site.

Scientific Atlanta's primary URL -- www.sciatl.com -- now redirects visitors to a page at Cisco.com with the headline, "Scientific Atlanta is now part of Cisco."

Cisco completed the $6.9 billion acquisition of Scientific Atlanta in February 2006. Last March, Cisco officially phased out the SA name and restructured the management team for what is now called the Cisco Service Provider Video Technology Group.

On the new landing page that redirects from sciatl.com and scientificatlanta.com, Cisco said, "While virtually all of the content from the Scientific Atlanta home page has been moved to the Cisco site, selected areas of the Scientific Atlanta site are still available."

Cisco said authorized users can still access scientificatlanta.com extranet sites, using existing URLs to log into those secure pages. In addition, user guides, technical documents and marketing materials will still be available to authorized users on these extranet sites.
