Cisco’s Scheinman to Head Media Group

Cisco Systems tapped Dan Scheinman, senior vice president of corporate development, to run its newly formed Media Solutions Group, which will develop and market networking products to digital-content owners.

Scheinman, a 14-year Cisco veteran, will be senior VP and general manager of the new group, reporting directly to CEO John Chambers. As head of business development at Cisco, he managed more than 40 acquisitions, including that of Scientific Atlanta.

Cisco’s Media Solutions Group will “accelerate” the market for digital-media content by helping to “ensure the highest-quality experience for the end-user,” Scheinman said in a prepared statement.

Ned Hooper, currently VP of corporate business development, will replace Scheinman as senior VP of corporate development. Hooper reports to Rick Justice, senior VP of worldwide operations and business development.
