Cirrus Puts Up $92M for ShareWave

Chip-maker Cirrus Logic Inc. said late Thursday that it has reached an
agreement to acquire ShareWave Inc. in a stock deal valued at $92 million. The
deal is expected to close next month, the companies said.
Elements of ShareWave's proprietary 'Whitecap' technology are being
considered for the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers' '802.11e'
wireless home-networking specification.
Panasonic Consumer Electronics and Netgear Inc. are shipping products based
on Whitecap.
El Dorado Hills, Calif.-based ShareWave is a vendor author of CableHome, a
home-networking-specification initiative headed by Cable Television Laboratories
Inc.
