By Ted Hearn published
The wife of Federal Communications Commission member Kevin Martin has been named a top communications aide to Vice President Richard Cheney, the White House announced Friday.
Catherine J. Martin was named assistant to the VP for public affairs. She replaces prominent GOP operative and cable news personality Mary Matalin, who resigned to spend more time with her family.
Kevin Martin, who worked for the Bush-Cheney presidential campaign, joined the FCC in July 2001. He serves in the commission's GOP majority with chairman Michael Powell and commissioner Kathleen Abernathy.
