Charter Communications Inc. is the first cable MSO to sign up for Rhapsody's
Listen.com digital-music-subscription
service for cable-modem users.
The agreement marks one of the first major broadband-content deals between an
MSO and a content provider.
Listen.com offers 210,000 songs from 16,000 albums by music artists at all
five major record labels, plus Internet radio stations and the ability for
consumers to create their own playlists, for $9.95 per month.
Charter subscribers can go to www.chartercom.com to sign up for the
service. Charter serves 905,000 high-speed Internet subscribers.
Listen.com has signed deals over the past few months with Road Runner and
DirecTV Inc.
