Cartoon, CDC Partner in Obesity Effort

Cartoon Network announced Monday that it is partnering with the U.S.
Department of Health & Human Services' Centers for Disease Control and
Prevention in the CDC's ongoing campaign against childhood obesity.

Using on-air and online, the CDC said its "What’s Your Verb?" campaign will
encourage youngsters to engage in physical activities and reduce unhealthy,
risky behavior.

Starting Aug. 4, the cable network will ask children to submit videotapes of
themselves doing their favorite "verb" for a chance to see portions of their
video featured on the network from October-February, executive vice president
for sales and marketing Kim McQuilken said.

A 60-second "What’s Your Verb? Challenge" spot will run on Cartoon through
Sept. 9 directing youngsters to its Web site (www.cartoonnetwork.com) for details and
entry information.

Six children will be chosen to serve as inspirations for others, with each to
get "a small stipend" toward professional lessons in their chosen activity.

Cartoon's announcement noted that its challenge is part of an overall AOL
Time Warner Inc. corporate initiative to support the CDC's Verb
campaign.
