Camiant Teams Up with Netrake
By Matt Stump
Camiant Inc., which provides intelligent-policy servers for cable operators, said it is joining with Netrake to provide session-initiation-protocol-based residential voice-over-Internet-protocol services using PacketCable Multimedia to enable quality-of-service support levels.
Netrake provides session controllers for VoIP platforms.
Camiant will supply its “QBUS” multimedia-service controller to the partnership, while Netrake will supply its “nCite” product, which allows cable operators to solve firewall and network-address-translation issues at the customer premise.
Using this architecture, the companies said operators wouldn't need separate dedicated bandwidth for voice or data services.
The companies expect MSO trials to begin this quarter.
