LOUISVILLE, COLO. -Cable Television Laboratories Inc. said it promoted David P. Reed to chief technology officer. Reed replaces Richard Prodan, who left CableLabs earlier this year, CableLabs senior vice president of communications Mike Schwartz said.
In his new role, Reed, who joined CableLabs six years ago, will continue to handle the organization's strategic assessment department, PacketCable and Go2Broadband projects, but will also oversee initiatives such as PacketCable, OpenCable and DOCSIS (Data Over Cable Service Interface Specification).
Reed was formerly a telecommunications policy analyst at the Federal Communications Commission's office of plans and policy.
