C-COR Closes nCUBE Buy

C-COR Inc. said Monday that it closed its reported $89.5 million purchase of video-server vendor nCUBE Corp., which was announced in October.

Beaverton, Ore.-based nCUBE, sold by Oracle Corp. chairman Larry Ellison, will be integrated into software business unit C-COR Solutions. nCUBE CEO Michael Pohl becomes president of C-COR Solutions.

C-COR made several acquisitions in 2004 as part of a strategic plan to amass essential enabling capabilities -- including optical-transport equipment, operations-support systems software and technical-support services -- required by the next generation of Internet-protocol broadband and telecommunications networks.

Other acquisitions were gigabit-Ethernet-transport provider Optinel Systems Inc., network-optimization firm Stargus Inc., metropolitan-area-network-transport provider Lantern Communications Inc. and IP-services-support provider Alopa Networks Inc.
