Bright House Tampa Adds Channels to Hispanic Tier

Just in time for Hispanic Heritage Month, Bright House Networks Tampa has added seven Hispanic channels to its lineup: Sorpresa, GolTV, Caracol, History Channel en español, TVE International, WAPA America and Cine Latino joined the carrier’s Nuestros Canales Hispanic package on Sept. 15, the companies announced.

Sorpresa, the Juniper Content-owned Spanish-language children network, is tapping on the fast growing Hispanic youth population in the area, with nearly 30% of Tampa’s Hispanic population under the age of 18, said the company.

Sorpresa, which targets kids ages 2-17, is gearing up for its new fall programming lineup, including Karkú, a live-action TV series targeting teens and tweens.

For their part, the InterMedia-owned WAPA America and Cine Latino also joined Bright House in Tampa, with WAPA America being offered on the carrier’s digital basic service on channel 156 and its Spanish-language package Nuestros Canales on channel 909; Cine Latino joined Nuestros Canales on channel 913.

Other channels in the all Hispanic Nuestros Canales package from Bright House include Bay News 9 en Español, CNN en Español, SUR, Discovery en Español, Fox Sports en Español, ESPN Deportes, Mun2 and MTV Tr3s.

Bright House’s Hispanic tier is available for Bright House Networks digital customers for $3.99 a month. Also this month, the company introduced Mi México, a long-distance calling plan available to unlimited nationwide digital phone customers.
