NBC Cable Networks' Bravo announced Wednesday that its "Bravo on with the
Show: On Broadway ... See Who You Can Be" student competition has attracted more
than 30 systems in key markets so far.
A Bravo spokesman, who did not have a list of the affiliates on hand, said
the markets included Chicago; Columbus, Ohio; Dallas; Denver; Lexington, Ky.;
Los Angeles; Pittsburgh; San Francisco; Seattle; and Tampa, Fla.
The competition, which was announced at last spring's National Show, involves
students submitting entry forms by Dec. 8, with semifinalists asked to submit
The network will send 50 winning students from the various cable systems to
New York for theatrical training from Broadway professionals. They will then do
a live performance on a Broadway stage.
Bravo's initiative will include a local-ad-sales component for participating
affiliates. Local clients can co-sponsor a local production of Fame the
Musical or Grease, Bravo said.
There will not be a national sponsor, sources said, since an automaker
recently decided to drop out.
