BigBand Networks has appointed former Motorola and Broadbus Technologies executive Sean Rooney as senior vice president of worldwide sales.
Rooney, who will report to BigBand chief operating officer David Heard, will oversee the video-equipment company's global sales organization and functions across all major accounts. His appointment comes about a year after BigBand's previous sales and marketing chief, Jeff Lindholm, resigned amid steep revenue declines.
Rooney previously was a sales executive in Motorola's video-on-demand systems group following its acquisition of Broadbus. At Broadbus, Rooney was in charge of the worldwide sales and service organization, managing accounts including Comcast, Time Warner Cable, Charter Communications, Rogers and BSkyB.
In addition, Rooney has worked for Netrix, a provider of voice-over-IP equipment, and Sony.
"Sean is a seasoned sales executive with a proven track record in strategic sales development and management," Heard said in a statement. "His experience in breaking new ground with large, multinational companies in the broadband industry will help us continue to grow, scale and add tremendous value to our customers, partners and shareholders."
