BigBand Networks has hired Rajive Dhar, formerly head of corporate strategy and planning at Arris, to a similar position, BigBand confirmed Thursday.
Dhar's official title is senior vice president of corporate development and strategic planning, reporting to BigBand CEO and president Amir Bassan-Eskenazi. His move to BigBand was reported last week by Cable Digital News.
Previously, Dhar led mergers and acquisitions for Arris as vice president of corporate strategy and planning. The Suwanee, Ga.-based company's acquisitions during his tenure at Arris included video-on-demand supplier C-COR; Digeo, Paul Allen's DVR venture; and video-encoder specialist EGT.
Dhar joined Arris in 2003 through its purchase of Atoga Systems, an optical-router vendor. He has an MBA from the University of Chicago's Booth School of Business.
