Best Buy to Offer AT&T VoIP

AT&T Corp.’s “CallVantage” voice-over-Internet-protocol service will be available in Best Buy Co. Inc. stores nationwide following a deal announced Monday.

Best Buy and AT&T will promote CallVantage through in-store marketing, as well as print, broadcast and online advertising, the companies said.

“This is one of a series of retail agreements we intend to announce that will make AT&T CallVantage service more widely and conveniently available to as many consumers as possible,” AT&T senior vice president for Internet telephony, consumer marketing and sales Cathy Martine said in a prepared statement.

The Best Buy agreement follows AT&T’s announcement last week that it reached a deal with Cable Television Laboratories Inc. to use CableLabs’ Go2Broadband consumer-service-locator program to obtain cable service information and place orders with participating cable companies.
