Optical-networking equipment vendor Aurora Networks named Pirjo Tuomi, who previously worked at BigBand Networks and Nortel, has been named vice president of worldwide sales.
Most recently, Tuomi served as senior vice president of worldwide sales and field operations for Vello Systems, a provider of optical transport and dense wave division multiplexing (DWDM) technologies. Before that she was senior vice president worldwide sales at BigBand, which acquired ADC's cable-focused product line. She also held management positions with Nortel, ICL Data/Nokia Data and Finnish Telecom (now Telia Sonera).
"Pirjo's efforts will enable Aurora Networks to expand and enhance its sales endeavors and assist cable operators in all corners of the world as they deliver advanced, in-demand services," Aurora chairman, president and CEO Guy Sucharczuk said in a statement.
