Arris Converges On VOD Servers

Arris announced that its ConvergeMedia Management Suite software -- previously known as nABLE -- can now manage video-on-demand content across multiple video servers to optimize delivery based on network bandwidth, storage and streaming resources.

According to the company, the new platform lets service providers deploye edge VOD servers that were not previously economically viable due to the management overhead and quantities of different edge servers required.

"With the growth in the type and quantity of media and consumption devices, it becomes even more important to ingest, distribute and manage such assets cost effectively and easily across small and large networks," said Joe Matarese, vice president and general manager of Arris Media and Communications Systems group. "The new Management Suite platform delivers enhanced services to our clients' subscribers no matter where they are and when they want to be entertained."

The ConvergeMedia OnDemand management platform also provides content-search capabilities, integration with recommendation engines and personalized features. The system can let subscribers push personalized content to their various media devices, including playback on TV, PCs or mobile devices.
