Arraras from Univision to Telemundo

Telemundo Communications Group Inc. wrested away one of rival Univision
Communications Inc.'s leading news personalities to form her own magazine
show.

Maria Celeste Arraras -- who has anchored Univision newscasts since 1989 and,
in recent years, co-hosted Primer Impacto (First Impact), that
service's own late-afternoon newsmagazine -- will join Telemundo as host of A
Rojo Vivo
(Red Live) April 29.

Arrara will also serve as managing editor of the show, which will run
opposite Primer Impacto at 5 p.m.

Vivo will have an infotainment focus, compared with the investigative,
sometimes tabloid-style bent of Impacto and Occurio Asi,
Telemundo's current 5 p.m. entry, which will present its final episode April
26.

The hiring of one Univision's leading news personalities figures to be one of
Telemundo's last programming calls before NBC finalizes its $2.7 billion
acquisition of the Spanish-language television network.

NBC's purchase of Telemundo is virtually done, pending Federal Communications
Commission approval, NBC president Andrew Lack said during an April 10 press
conference announcing the Arraras deal. 'When will we close it? Soon. It's a
matter of days,' he said.

When the NBC deal goes through, Arraras is also expected to produce stories
for MSNBC and Dateline NBC, as well as hosting a number of Telemundo
specials.

'I hope it's a marriage made in heaven. I feel that way,' Arraras said.

Concerning how much she'll earn from her Telemundo/NBC assignments, Arraras
declined to state an amount.

'I'll pay lots of taxes, but I'm making less than Katie Couric,' she said,
referring to the Today co-host and her new multimillion-dollar
contract.
