Arkwest Channels Entone for IPTV On-Demand Service

Rural telco Arkwest Communications tapped Entone Technologies to help it roll out an IPTV on-demand service.

Arkwest’s planned service will offer more than 200 TV channels and 1,500 hours of on-demand movies to its 6,000 customers in Danville, Ola, Plainview, Belleville and Havana, Ark.

To back that service, Arkwest will use Entone’s StreamLiner network-based video-recorder software system that can be loaded onto standard servers to provide ingest, storage and on-demand content streaming. Arkwest also will buy into Entone’s Ingest Gateway software to manage the ingest and content storage.

“To keep ahead of the competition, we needed to expand our service offering to include more than just voice and data services,” Arkwest vice president of operations P.T. Sanders said. “Entone’s field-proven IPTV solution enables us to cost-effectively leverage our existing network infrastructure so that we could quickly deploy VOD services across Arkansas.”

So far, Entone’s IPTV VOD products have been deployed by more than 50 telcos worldwide. Its largest deployment is with Honk Kong telco PCCW.
