Blue Ridge Communications has spread its programming reach in the home, tapping Aptiv Digital Inc. to supply multiroom digital-video recorders to its 181,000 customers in northeast Pennsylvania.
Powered by new versions of Aptiv’s “Passport” and “Passport Echo” interactive program guides, the new application provides multiroom access to digital-video programming stored on a central DVR box attached to the home’s main TV set.
The system uses existing cable wiring in the home to then shuttle the content around to as many as three additional set-top boxes attached to other home TV sets.
The Passport interactive software also supports parental-control features, integrated on-demand and pay-per-view, games and other interactive applications.
