AOL Launches Online Mentoring

The AOL Time Warner Foundation said Monday that it is partnering with
MENTOR/National Mentoring Partnership to launch software that will link at-risk
youth with adult mentors through the Internet.

The online tool kit, called Mentors Online, was designed to provide online
training for mentors and a secure environment for electronic-mail exchanges. The
tool kit will be available to partner companies and organizations, which will
then implement their own mentoring programs.

MENTOR member organizations recruit employees to mentor young people.

Through a pilot program called the Digital Heroes Campaign, AOL Time Warner
Foundation, People magazine, America Online Inc., MENTOR and PowerUP have
matched 230 youth with online mentors, including AOL Time Warner executives and
Hollywood celebrities.
