Amsterdam-UPCtv, the programming arm of MSO United Pan-Europe Communications N.V., last week began test transmissions of style-and-design channel Expo 24x7. The network is UPCtv's eighth launch, and was originally founded by programming executive Bill Lee, who is now with E! Entertainment Television.
UPCtv also said it and Extreme Group-its partner in the Extreme Sports Channel-will team up with Online Sports Marketing to create the first World Extreme Games.
The competition, WEG 2000, will be staged in Melbourne, Australia, Dec. 1 to Dec. 3, as an "alternative" Olympics.
