Amdocs acquired Jacobs Rimell, a provider of fulfillment solutions for cable operators, for approximately $45 million in cash, in a deal it said gives it a “complete order-to-cash solution spanning all customer experience systems.”
The Jacobs Rimell system will be integrated into Amdocs’ operations support system (OSS) offering, which is based on its prior acquisitions of DST Innovis and Cramer Systems Group.
Comcast is a current customer of both London-based Jacobs Rimell and Amdocs, and Amdocs said the acquisition will expand its relationship with the operator.
Comcast chief information officer Andy Baer, in a prepared statement, said the operator “looks forward to working with Amdocs as it enhances Jacobs Rimell's capabilities and integrates Jacobs Rimell into its broader service offerings."
Jacobs Rimell's OSS solutions support more than 24 million multiservice subscribers with providers in 15 countries. In addition to Comcast, customers include Liberty Global’s UPC, Virgin Media, Cable & Wireless and Switzerland’s Cablecom.
The $45 million purchase price is net of cash on hand, subject to post-closing adjustments. Amdocs said the acquisition is expected to be dilutive in fiscal 2008, but the company said it will not know the extent until the deal's financial accounting is completed.
Amdocs also said it may incur a one-time acquisition-related expense to account for certain acquisition-related costs.
