Aerosmith will be awarded the second 'MTV Icon' award next month.
MTV: Music Television announced Tuesday that the veteran rock band will be
feted during a show that will be taped April 14 in Los Angeles and air on the
network April 17 from 9 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.
Janet Jackson was the inaugural recipient of the MTV Icon laurel, which
honors a band or artist for significant contributions to music, music videos and
pop culture over the course of a career.
The program -- opening with a testimonial to the group from Jackson -- will
also feature performances of Aerosmith signature songs from Pink, Kid Rock and
others, as well as tributes to Steve Tyler, Joe Perry and company.
Aerosmith, which has made 32 videos over the years, will take the stage for
the show's finale.
