A&E Tour Salutes 'Biography'

To celebrate Biography's 15th anniversary, A&E Networks this week will kick off a 10-city multimedia tour here.

The "Biography
15 Years Celebration Tour" will make its first stop at the Westside Pavilion mall from April 19 through April 21, offering a mix of entertainment, technology and artistry. The 1,000th original episode of A&E's signature series will air sometime this summer.

Each visit will open by honoring up to 10 local heroes from each stop on 'The Biography Community Heroes Exhibit' wall.

The 1,375-square-foot A&E exhibit area — three primary structures and a main stage — will house several figures from Madame Tussaud's Wax Museum; 'Who Am I?,' an audience-participation game show with prizes for contestants; 'The Biography
Studio,' where visitors can tape their own one-minute episode; and a 'Biography Magazine
Cover Shoot.'

At Internet kiosks, visitors can access Biography.com and Geneaology.com, where they'll be able to navigate the family trees of celebrities. In 'The Biography Channel Area,' A&E affiliates can screen the digital network.

Sponsor Zenith Electronics Corp. is backing the tour with its new high-tech 42-inch plasma television monitors, as well as DVD players, a 60-inch high-definition-TV monitor and speakers.

After Los Angeles, the tour moves to Seattle, Denver, St. Louis and Chicago. In June, it'll stop in Atlanta, New York's Grand Central Terminal and Washington. The tour closes with July stops in Boston and Philadelphia.
