Adlink, Comedy Have Rx for Laughter

Los Angeles interconnect Adlink has secured retailers Good Guys Inc. and Mervyn's to sponsor a fund-raiser benefiting Rx Laughter at UCLA's Royce Hall Dec. 6.

Sitcom stars Ray Romano and Kevin James return as entertainers for the second annual event, and they will be joined by comedians Dane Cook and Megan Mooney.

Rx Laughter is a five-year nonprofit research, therapeutic-entertainment and health-education project devoted to the medical uses of comedy and laughter for seriously ill children and adolescents during treatments and as a coping resource for their families and support systems. It was started in 2000 with $75,000 in seed money from Comedy Central.

All proceeds from the event go to Rx Laughter.

As event sponsors, Good Guys and Mervyn’s will gain extensive on-air exposure throughout the greater Los Angeles area via Adlink's 44 top-rated TV networks. Each will have its own customized promotional spot that will air 200 times across a strategic schedule

In addition to the on-air exposure, the sponsors will be featured on-site at the event with free-standing banners, signs and an advertisement in the event's program.

Comedy’s Web site (www.comedycentral.com) will include text links to the event's site (www.rxlaughter.org), which will prominently highlight sponsors' logos and links to their specific Web sites.

And Good Guys will display signage for the Rx Laughter benefit in 25 locations throughout Southern California.
