Adelphia Asks for 60 Days

Adelphia Communications Corp. has asked a court for a 60-day extension to its deadline to file its Chapter 11 reorganization plan, Dow Jones reported.

The MSO filed a motion Monday with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Manhattan seeking to delay its refiling until April 17.

The delay would give Adelphia the chance to reorganize its finances without the threat of creditors filing lawsuits or competing plans, Dow Jones said.

A hearing on the requested extension is scheduled for March 2, with objections due Feb. 26.

Adelphia also asked for a 60-day extension of exclusivity to solicit votes from creditors on the plan, through June 19, Dow Jones said.
